Rock Houses at Kinver
Finally made it over to Kinver and the Rock Houses. One of the many places I plan to visit, but every time I choose a day, something happens, or it rains. But well worth the wait.
I caught the bus from Merry Hill to Kinver, number 228 run by Hansons and runs hourly. Then walked up to the national trust, along forest drive and then up Compton road. It takes approx 15-20 minutes and is up hill. This will lead you direct to one of the entrances, with a notice board, showing all 3 marked routes.
I followed the start of the yellow route. This will take you past the first entrance to the rock houses and then to the second entrance and tea shop. As they weren't open when I arrived I went straight up to Hill Fort and the Toposcope view point.
Warning - this is a steep walk, but doesn't take long. It includes paths and steps, but the end result is worth it.
Inside one of the restored houses
Another of the restored houses.
One of the many information boards.
